Calcaneal Apophysitis

Calcaneal apophysitis (also known as Sever's disease or Sever's condition ) is an inflammation of the growth plate of the bone at the back of the heel, the calcaneus. The inflammation occurs at the point where the Achilles tendon attaches to the back of your heel bone. Because it's an inflammation of a growth bone, calcaneal apophysitis most often affects children and adolescents who are active in sports. Boys experience the condition more often than girls.
