A study was conducted by scientists at Guangzhou Dongsheng Hospital and Guangzhou Social Welfare House in China. The study indicates that acupuncture can serve as aneffective treatment when it comes to heel pain and other adverse foot conditions.
An experiment that involved 66 patients who were struggling with pain in their heels. Some of the test subjects were provided filiform acupuncture needle treatment, while others were administered conventional pharmaceutical drugs. After six months, the scientists found that the patients who underwent acupuncture scored an effectiveness rating of 97% as opposed to 76% within the control group.
Causes of Heel Pain
â— Heel pain is often associated with plantar fasciitis. The plantar fascia is a band of tissues that extends along the bottom of the foot. A rip or tear in this ligament can cause inflammation of the tissue.
â— Achilles tendonitis is another cause of heel pain. Inflammation of the Achilles tendon will cause pain from fractures and muscle tearing. Lack of flexibility is also another symptom.
â— Heel spurs are another cause of pain. When the tissues of the plantar fascia undergo a great deal of stress, it can lead to ligament separation from the heel bone, causing heel spurs.
