How Does Class IV Red Light Laser Therapy Work

During this procedure, different wavelengths and outputs of low-level light are applied directly to a targeted area. The body tissue then absorbs the light. The red and near-infrared light causes a photobiomodulation reaction, and the damaged cells respond with a physiological reaction that promotes regeneration, while reducing pain and inflammation.

Although you’ll feel the laser apparatus gliding over your skin, the procedure is painless and noninvasive. There will be no sound, and you’ll feel no vibration. Class IV red light laser is a low-energy therapy, yet patients may feel some mild warmth during the procedure. Treatments are often performed two to three times weekly and take approximately ten minutes to perform.

During laser treatment, the light will penetrate the skin and act at the cellular level. Light stimulates mitochondria to increase energy production, biochemical reactions, protein and growth factor synthesis, cell growth and proliferation, and blood and oxygen flow. This entire process is called photobiomodulation, and studies show it has the potential to significantly reduce pain, improve inflammation, and speed the process of healing.

Class IV Red Light Laser Explained

Class IV red light laser therapy is a non-invasive treatment used to reduce inflammation, improve circulation, and support tissue healing in painful or injured areas of the foot and ankle. It is commonly used for plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, tendon and ligament injuries, neuropathy, joint pain, post-surgical recovery, and chronic inflammatory conditions. By delivering concentrated light energy into targeted tissue, the laser stimulates cellular activity, reduces pain, and promotes healing.
