What is a Matrixectomy?
A matrixectomy is a minor surgical procedure performed in our office to remove the problematic portion of the toenail and prevent it from growing back. It is a highly effective long-term solution for chronic ingrown toenails. The procedure is done using a local anesthetic, which is usually the only uncomfortable part of the process. Once numb, patients do not feel any pain during the toenail removal.

What to Expect During the Procedure
Numbing the Toe – A local anesthetic is administered to ensure a pain-free procedure.
Toenail Removal – The ingrown portion of the nail is carefully removed.
Preventing Regrowth – If necessary, a special chemical is applied to the nail matrix to prevent the ingrown portion from returning.
Bandaging & Aftercare – The toe is dressed, and you’ll receive detailed care instructions.
