What Is Leneva®?

Metatarsalgia, or ball-of-foot pain, can make standing and walking difficult. At New Orleans Podiatry, we use Leneva®, a quick, non-surgical fat grafting injection that restores lost cushioning by helping your body regenerate its own fat tissue.

  • Non-surgical treatment – Simple injection, no incisions
  • Tissue regeneration – Stimulates your body to rebuild fat padding naturally
  • Long-lasting results – Relief that can last 12 months or longer

What to Expect During the Procedure

  • Foot Assessment – Our podiatrist evaluates the affected area and marks injection points
  • Leneva® Injection – The sterile AEM material is carefully injected beneath pressure points
  • Massage & Shaping – The injection site is gently shaped for even distribution
  • Recovery – You can walk two weeks after the procedure; results develop over several months
  • Total treatment time is less than 30 minutes
Dark marble texture with subtle swirling patterns.

Post-Procedure Care: Offloading Is Essential.

  • Patients must offload the treated foot for four weeks
  • A knee scooter is loaned to minimize pressure on the ball of the foot while new tissue forms.
  • Failure to offload can negatively impact results and reduce the effectiveness of the graft.

Recovery & Results

  • First 24 hours: Mild swelling or tenderness at the injection site
  • Weeks 1–4: Offloading period (boot or knee scooter required)
  • Weeks 2–4: Gradual decrease in discomfort as tissue regeneration begins
  • By 3–6 months: Full results as new, natural padding forms
  • Long-term: Many patients experience relief for approximately 12 months (outcomes will vary)

Will I Need More Than One Injection?

  • Some patients may need additional injections every 6–12 months until sufficient cushioning is restored.
  • Individual outcomes can vary, and fat regeneration is not always achievable in every case.
