At New Orleans Podiatry, we offer the gold standard in fungal nail treatment through a comprehensive, physician-directed approach that combines advanced topical antifungal therapy with the Nd:YAG PinPointe FootLaser™. The Nd:YAG PinPointe FootLaser™ belongs to the most studied laser category used in fungal nail treatment and is incorporated as part of a comprehensive care strategy designed to improve nail clarity and reduce fungal burden.
Topical antifungal medications help reduce microbial load on the surface of the nail and surrounding skin, while laser therapy penetrates the nail plate to target fungal organisms embedded deep within the nail bed—areas topical treatments alone cannot reach. This dual-modality strategy allows for more thorough treatment and supports healthier, clearer nail growth over time.
To further support consistency and long-term results, we also offer ClearPlan™, our monthly fungal nail treatment subscription. ClearPlan™ is designed for patients who value ongoing care and convenience, providing structured laser sessions, antifungal support, and physician oversight within a predictable monthly plan. This approach helps maintain treatment momentum, reduces the risk of reinfection, and offers built-in value for patients committed to nail restoration.
Every treatment plan is thoughtfully tailored by Dr. Lang, ensuring care that is precise, evidence-informed, and delivered with the elevated, concierge-level experience our patients expect.
Fungal nail disease is best addressed through a combination therapy approach, pairing topical antifungal medications with advanced laser technology. Topical treatments work at the surface of the nail and surrounding skin to reduce superficial fungal elements, while the PinPointe FootLaser™ penetrates the nail plate to target fungal organisms residing deeper within the nail bed—areas topical therapies alone cannot effectively reach. Used together, these modalities create a more comprehensive and effective treatment strategy.
Clinical studies support this dual-modality approach. Published data demonstrate improved outcomes when laser therapy is combined with topical antifungals compared to laser treatment alone. In a retrospective study by Weber et al. (2018), a mycological cure rate of 63% was reported with Nd:YAG laser therapy alone, increasing to 86% when laser treatment was paired with topical antifungal therapy. These findings reinforce the value of combination care in managing fungal nail infections.
Treatment frequency varies based on the severity and extent of infection. Mild cases may respond well with approximately three to four laser sessions, while more advanced or longstanding infections may require six to eight treatments to achieve optimal nail clarity and fungal reduction, as described in the literature (Landsman et al., 2010). Dr. Lang evaluates each patient individually to determine the most appropriate treatment schedule and supportive therapies.

At New Orleans Podiatry, exceptional care begins with transparency. Below is an overview of how costs are typically structured for fungal nail laser treatment and supportive care.
Care begins with a comprehensive consultation with Dr. Lang to confirm the diagnosis of fungal nail disease (onychomycosis) and determine the most appropriate treatment approach. This medical evaluation is typically covered by insurance, subject to individual plan benefits. For self-pay patients, the visit is reasonably priced. Regardless of payment method, every patient receives the same elevated, concierge-level care.
When clinically appropriate, additional diagnostic testing may be recommended to guide treatment decisions. Any testing options and associated costs are reviewed in advance so patients can move forward with clarity and confidence.
PinPointe™ FootLaser treatment is offered at $200 per session. Laser therapy for fungal nails is considered a cosmetic service and is not covered by insurance. Treatment is paid at the time of service, with HSA or FSA funds accepted when applicable. The number of sessions recommended varies based on nail severity, growth patterns, and response to treatment.
For optimal and lasting results, laser therapy is often paired with topical or prescription antifungal treatments. Coverage varies by plan, and some medications may be self-pay. We utilize select local pharmacies known for exceptional pricing on antifungal medications and also offer physician-grade antifungal therapies in office for added convenience and proven results.
To support long-term nail health and reduce the risk of reinfection, Clean Sweep™ Antimicrobial Shoe Shield may be recommended to help lower microbial contamination within footwear during and after treatment.
For patients seeking a more structured, ongoing approach, ClearPlan™ offers a monthly care option designed to support consistency, convenience, and long-term nail health.
Our team is committed to thoughtful care, clear communication, and exceptional outcomes. We remain available to answer questions regarding coverage, pricing, and treatment options so you can move forward with confidence.
