Integrative Podiatry

Integrative Podiatry blends the best of traditional podiatric medicine with evidence-based, non-pharmaceutical approaches to promote whole-body wellness through foot health. This holistic model recognizes that the feet are foundational to overall function and vitality—because a pair of feet never walks into a clinic without the rest of the body. By integrating clinical care with nutrition, lifestyle modifications, movement education, and personalized wellness strategies, integrative podiatry addresses both the symptoms and root causes of foot and ankle conditions. It prioritizes prevention, empowers patients through education, and supports the body’s natural healing processes—bridging modern medicine with a thoughtful, whole-person philosophy of care.

Nutrition

Our nutrition philosophy is rooted in ancestral eating—emphasizing whole, unprocessed foods that support both systemic and foot health. Nutrition education is a key part of our practice because a healthy diet has a direct impact on conditions that affect the feet.

For example, appropriate nutrition can:

  • Improve blood sugar control in patients with diabetes, reducing the risk of neuropathy and delayed wound healing.
  • Support tissue repair and immune function, aiding in wound healing and recovery from injuries.
  • Help prevent or manage gout by limiting purine-rich foods and improving uric acid metabolism.
  • Reduce systemic inflammation, which can exacerbate tendinopathies such as plantar fasciitis and Achilles tendonitis.
  • Support healthy weight management, which reduces mechanical stress on the feet, especially in conditions like plantar fasciitis.

We recommend a whole-foods-based, anti-inflammatory diet that includes:

Ruminant meats (e.g., beef, lamb, bison)

Wild-caught seafood (rich in omega-3 fatty acids)

Complex carbohydrates (e.g., sweet potatoes, legumes, whole grains)

Fruits (especially berries and seasonal produce)

Lifestyle

A foot-positive lifestyle involves making intentional choices that support foot structure, function, and comfort—ultimately benefiting overall health and movement. Lifestyle practices that promote long-term foot health include:

  • Wearing shoes with a wide toe box to allow natural toe splay, reduce pressure on forefoot structures, and minimize deformities such as bunions and neuromas.
  • Using minimalist or barefoot-style footwear with a zero-drop heel to encourage natural gait mechanics, strengthen intrinsic foot muscles, and reduce strain on the plantar fascia and Achilles tendon.
  • Performing foot-specific exercises to build intrinsic foot strength, improve proprioception, and prevent injuries.
  • Practicing grounding (earthing), because studies show it's beneficial to your health to put your bare feet on the ground.
  • Integrating functional movement therapies (e.g., mobility drills, barefoot balance work, joint alignment training) into daily routines to improve lower limb biomechanics and reduce compensatory stress on the feet and ankles.

Evidence Based Therapies

  • Radial shockwave therapy a non-invasive treatment clinically proven to reduce pain and improve function in chronic conditions such as plantar fasciitis and certain types of neuropathy, by stimulating tissue regeneration and modulating pain pathways.
  • Class IV red light laser therapy high-powered near-infrared laser therapy that penetrates deep tissue to stimulate circulation, reduce inflammation, and promote healing in wounds and peripheral neuropathies.
  • Class IV PinPointe FootLaser FDA-cleared Nd:YAG 1064-nm laser technology specifically designed to eradicate toenail fungus (onychomycosis) by targeting fungal pathogens beneath the nail without damaging surrounding tissue.
  • Sonogram-guided amnio matrix allograft a regenerative therapy used to deposit growth factor–rich amniotic tissue directly at the site of chronic tears.
  • Precision wellness via genomics to guide supplementation, lifestyle, and nutritional recommendations, supporting wellness and targeted intervention for inflammation, detoxification, nutrient metabolism, and more.
  • Supplementation over pharmacology where appropriate, we offer evidence-based nutraceuticals as alternatives to pharmaceuticals—reducing side effects and aligning care with a holistic, root-cause approach.
  • Leneva Biological Fat Pad Augmentation an injectable, allograft adipose matrix designed to restore lost fat cushioning beneath the heel or forefoot, relieving pain caused by fat pad atrophy and improving shock absorption during weight-bearing activities.
